Windsor Locks (Amtrak station)
Windsor Locks is a train station in Windsor Locks, Connecticut located on the New Haven-Springfield Line. It is the northernmost Amtrak station in the State of Connecticut. It is merely a sheltered plexiglas platform. The Connecticut Department of Transportation has proposed that the planned new commuter service called the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield Commuter Rail Line stop there.
The former Windsor Locks Passenger Station is a mile north of the current modern station. Built in 1875, that station is a former New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad depot and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since September 2, 1975.〔(Windsor Locks Passenger Depot (Dymanic Depot Maps) )〕 There are continued efforts to move the current Amtrak stop closer to the historic station and downtown area.
